Description

This Sweet & Savory Honey Garlic Sausage recipe combines smoky sausage with a luscious honey garlic glaze, creating a perfect balance of flavors. It’s quick to make on the stovetop and serves up beautifully as a main course over rice, mashed potatoes, or simply on its own as a tasty appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Sausage

  • 1 lb smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Garnish

  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, crushed red pepper flakes, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Cook the sausage: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage pieces and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to brown and release their aroma.
  3. Coat with sauce: Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the browned sausage in the skillet. Stir thoroughly to coat every piece evenly with the sauce.
  4. Glaze and thicken: Continue cooking the sausage and sauce mixture for another 4 to 5 minutes. This allows the sauce to thicken and glaze the sausage, intensifying the flavor and giving a nice shiny finish.
  5. Finish and serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot either over rice, mashed potatoes, or enjoy it as a flavorful appetizer on its own.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute smoked sausage with turkey or chicken sausage.
  • Enhance the dish by adding sliced bell peppers or onions to the skillet during cooking for more flavor and vibrant color.
