Description

Moose Bites are delicious no-bake dessert balls made with sweetened condensed milk, butter, vanilla, graham cracker crumbs, dried coconut, and chocolate chips. These bite-sized treats combine creamy, crunchy, and chocolaty flavors and are perfect for quick parties or snacks. Easy to make and requiring no cooking, they are refrigerated to firm up and then coated in graham cracker crumbs for an extra crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (300ml/14oz)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix-ins and Coating

  • 1 1/2 cups dried coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (plus extra for rolling)
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
  2. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually stir in the graham cracker crumbs, dried coconut, and chocolate chips. Mix everything together until all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  3. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for about one hour. This step helps the mixture firm up, making it easier to shape into balls.
  4. Shape the Moose Bites: After chilling, scoop portions of the mixture using a spoon or small cookie scoop and roll them into 1 1/4-inch balls using your hands.
  5. Coat with Graham Cracker Crumbs: Roll each ball in the extra graham cracker crumbs to coat them. This adds a pleasant crunch and an attractive finish.
  6. Final Chill: Place the coated moose bites on a baking sheet and chill them in the refrigerator until they are firm. This ensures they hold their shape when served.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh graham cracker crumbs for coating to ensure a crunchy texture.
  • Store moose bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator; they stay fresh up to one week.
  • You can substitute chocolate chips with mini M&Ms or chopped nuts for variation.
  • If dried coconut is not available, shredded coconut can be lightly toasted for added flavor.
  • To make rolling easier, slightly grease your hands with butter or use a small cookie scoop.
