Description

Crab Rangoon Nachos are a delightful fusion appetizer combining the creamy, savory flavors of classic crab rangoon with the crunchy satisfaction of nachos. This recipe features a luscious blend of crab meat, cream cheese, and aromatic seasonings layered over crispy wonton or tortilla chips, topped with melted mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, and finished with a drizzle of sweet chili sauce and fresh garnishes. Perfect for parties or game day snacks, these nachos bring an exciting Asian-American twist to your appetizer menu.

Ingredients

Scale

Crab Mixture

  • 8 ounces lump crab meat
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, finely sliced (split)

Nacho Base & Toppings

  • 1 bag wonton chips or tortilla chips
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the nachos.
  2. Prepare Crab Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and half of the sliced green onions. Mix until smooth and well blended. Gently fold in the lump crab meat, being careful not to break it up too much to maintain texture.
  3. Assemble Nachos: Spread the wonton or tortilla chips evenly on a large oven-safe platter or baking sheet. Using a spoon, dollop spoonfuls of the crab mixture evenly over the chips. Then, sprinkle shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses generously on top.
  4. Bake: Place the assembled platter in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese has melted completely and is bubbly and slightly golden.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the nachos from the oven and immediately drizzle the sweet chili sauce over the top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, the remaining green onions, and fresh cilantro. Serve hot for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For even crispier wonton chips, lightly spray them with oil and bake separately at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes before assembling the nachos.
  • Imitation crab can be used as a budget-friendly substitute for lump crab meat without sacrificing too much flavor.
  • Serve extra sweet chili sauce or soy sauce on the side for dipping to add more flavor as desired.
